Six Degrees Medical is a collaborative, female-led, medical communications agency based in Toronto with remote workers across Canada and the UK.

In this dynamic newly created role, reporting to our Manager, People & Culture, as our People & Culture Generalist you will be responsible for a range of HR tasks from recruitment, onboarding, updating job descriptions through to developing internal communication all to deliver an excellent employee experience within SDM’s People & Culture group (P&C). You are a self starter, keen to ensure employees are kept informed and motivated as you collaborate with SDM’s Executive Team. You thrive on leading and supporting cross functional initiatives that enhance employee growth.  

 


What your responsibilities as our Internal Communication Coordinator will include:

  • Managing full-cycle recruitment process for full-time, contract and co-op roles, from posting jobs externally, reviewing applications, screening candidates through to scheduling interviews with Hiring Managers and conducting reference checks
  • Working with leaders to understand their recruitment needs
  • Leading new hire onboarding from developing onboarding schedules, ensuring employees are successfully set up for their first day and hosting the People & Culture onboarding session
  • Tracking employee eligibility for GRSP, anniversaries and sending out reminders to employees
  • Providing support with managing our Performance Management program which may include developing communication and working with leaders
  • Planning, developing and producing internal communication content ranging from internal marketing, training, and newsletter updates in PowerPoint, email, or broadcasts through our intranet
  • Gathering information and drafting monthly SDM newsletter and monthly Project Delivery Directors’ newsletter
  • Reviewing current training manuals on SDM’s Intranet, make edits and recommending enhancements
  • Maintaining processes related to employee communication, including Intranet, New Hires and Departure messaging, etc.
  • Participating in SDM CARES and committees with multi-channel communication
  • Reviewing internal communication materials carefully when proofreading and editing
  • Maintain confidentiality and support P&C administration as needed
  • Collaborating across SDM to ensure productive and professional relationships with P&C to support internal communication efforts organically and informally (outside of formal meetings and newsletters)

What you’ll need to succeed:    

  • Minimum 2 years working in Human Resources and/or Internal Communication with a bachelor’s degree in HR, Labour Relations, Communications, or a post graduate diploma in HR as asset 
  • Passionate about the importance of communication to ensure a positive employee experience
  • Ability to quickly understand and reposition key messages in a format employees will assimilate
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Proven problem analysis and resolution capabilities 
  • Demonstrated ability to create innovative PowerPoint presentations and newsletters 
  • Able to multi-task and manage multiple priorities while delivering within an aggressive timeline 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a results-oriented management style 
  • Able to work effectively and collaboratively with Management and Executive Teams and balance needs of multiple stakeholders while managing complex tasks and priorities in a calm and efficient manner
  • Demonstrate integrity and ethical conduct and expect the same from the team  
  • Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills with the ability to establish trust, maintain confidential information and foster strong relationships with clients, colleagues, partners, and employees across the organization 
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to set priorities to meet operational deadlines and juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-direction with integrity, positive attitude, confidence, speed, and with a passion for SDM’s vision, mission, and values
